Nemayamukama Harriet

When Nemayamukama Harriet received sponsorship to attend Kibaale School in 2014, she was living “in a very bad house.” But a year later, Harriet got the surprise of a lifetime when Kibaale announced she was receiving a new home.

As she tells me about that day, Harriet’s voice goes up an octave, exclaiming: “What?” Recently, Harriet’s sponsor had visited Kibaale and saw the condition of Harriet’s home. Her sponsor decided to buy a new home for Harriet and her family, at a cost of approximately $4000 CDN.

“I was very happy and I thanked God for that opportunity.” Harriet speaks with pride about her new home. She tells me it’s beautiful, but the best part about it is it’s “permanent.”

Harriet claps with joy as she talks about the impact Kibaale has made in her life. In the future, Harriet plans to become a bank manager so she can improve her village and her community.
